Easyjet reach technology license agreement with Comtec
Travel technology supplier, Comtec, has reached agreement with easyJet to license its Application Programming Interface (API). The API will provide Comtec and its customers with a structured way of accessing easyJet flights and services; including flight availability, bookings and a range of flight-related services.

The move reflects easyJet's strategy to control access to its inventory by proactively working with selected technology partners to replace unlicensed screen scraping solutions. easyJet have threatened action against any technology suppliers who continue to employ unauthorised tools to extract availability and bookings direct from its website and resell its flights without permission.

Comtec plans to develop against easyJet's API in order to provide its customers with access to easyJet services via its Travelink and Travelconnect selling platforms. In addition to real-time access to flight inventory, the API will also enable Comtec customers to book services including Speedy Boarding, hold-baggage and sports equipment.

Commenting, Humphrey Sheil, Chief Technology Officer at Comtec commented, "The new API will provide a robust and functionally-rich interface enabling us to deliver the highest levels of performance and reliability when our customers book easyJet services. We'll also be able to integrate new, added-value, components into the booking journey which will enable our clients to offer vastly improved levels of customer service."
